Neville slams pampered players

Manchester United defender Gary Neville has echoed his manager Sir Alex Ferguson's recent comments suggesting current Premier League players are not living in the real world.
Ferguson said in a speech at a League Managers' Association dinner last week that players were 'cocooned' by their agents and had become 'fragile'.
Neville told the Manchester Evening News : "I completely agree with his sentiments. It's one of my pet hates when I see players who have agents that do everything for them.
"They don't know how to set up their own bank account, they don't know what they're spending their money on and they can't make their own decisions.
"Not every player is like that, but some are now totally dependent on agents and advisers. For me, life is an education and you learn things as you go through it.
"I think a footballer should sit down and negotiate with a club, even if his agent is sitting with him. It's in a player's best interests to be there and see what's going on.
"The idea of allowing someone to look after your financial and professional existence is something I can't agree with.
"There are some agents who do a good job looking after players but there are others who stifle and mollycoddle players.
"Some agents will come into a player's life when he's 20, leave his life at 34 and never want to know that player again. Every footballer needs an adviser at some point.
"But a player doesn't need to pay between five and 15 per cent of his wages to a guy to set up a bank account, buy him a new fridge, or ask his club's chief executive for a pay rise."

Traille at fullback for France against All Blacks

Damien Traille was given the starting job at full back on Tuesday when the French XV to play New Zealand in Marseille on Saturday night was named.

The return of the veteran Biarritz player is one of seven changes, one positional that coach Marc Lievremont made from the side that defeated Samoa 45-3 in Paris last Saturday.
He replaces Maxime Medard, who was outstanding against the South Pacific Islanders and who gets the nod on the wing in a back line that includes two other Toulouse players in record try scorer Vincent Clerc and the powerful Yannick Jauzion.
At half-back Francois Trinh-Duc of Montpellier fills the No.10 shirt for the third straight game and renews his partnership with Julien Dupuy of Stade Francais.
In the pack, William Servat comes in at hooker for Dimitri Szarzewski, while Fabien Barcella, who starred in the 20-13 win over world champions South Africa in the first of four November Tests, returns at prop.
Sebastien Chabal, who enjoyed a strong game against Samoa, retains his position at lock and will be partnered by the rising Romain Millo-Chluski of Toulouse.
In the back row, Fulgence Ouedrago returns from injury alongside No.8 Julien Bonnaire and skipper Thierry Dusautoir.

Ferguson berates fragile stars

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that today's footballers are far softer than previous generations.
Ferguson, 67, has enjoyed an amazing 23-year reign at Old Trafford, but accepts that managing in the modern environment provides a different set of challenges to days gone by.
He commented: "It's a different player character we've got today. The players are more fragile than players of 25 years ago.
"They are more cocooned today by their agents or the press they receive at times. They are less likely to hold their hands up and say they're at fault for things.
"If you go back 30 years ago you had a player who had a certain pride and responsibility in their own performance.
"They were less protected so they could come in and say 'hands up, it was my fault, blah, blah, blah'. That was good.
"But today they are very protected. They are more fragile than ever and that's a lot to do with the type of people who protect them, agents."

Carter back for All Blacks against England

Rugbyweek.com wins Web award

Another 2009 All Blacks debutant, lock Tom Donnelly, has been named alongside Brad Thorn in the second row, while Kieran Read and Adam Thomson both get their 15th Test starts, picked at number eight and blindside flanker respectively, alongside captain Richie McCaw, who will be playing in his 79th Test and 42nd as captain.
The key feature in the backline is the selection on the right wing of 20-year-old Zac Guildford, who made his Test debut against Wales two weeks ago.
Regular starter Sitiveni Sivivatu is on the left wing and Mils Muliaina at fullback.

Conrad Smith and Ma’a Nonu are in the midfield; Dan Carter is at first five-eighth and Jimmy Cowan at halfback.

All Blacks Coach Graham Henry said: "It doesn’t get much bigger than England at Twickenham."

"It will be another fantastic challenge for the All Blacks."

"We are focussed on preparing well this week and looking forward to playing a determined England side."

All Blacks call up de Malmanche

New Zealand have drafted Waikato hooker Aled de Malmanche into their squad ahead of Saturday's Test meeting with England.
De Malmanche was on holiday in Bali when he was contacted over his availability to replace the injured Corey Flynn in the squad.
Flynn picked up a hamstring strain during training on Monday and is not expected to be fit for the Twickenham clash.
"We will wait and see how Corey goes this week before making a final decision," said coach Graham Henry.
"We are hopeful that Corey will recover but, as we have time on our side, we have called in Aled."
The All Blacks are set to recall Richie McCaw, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith and Andrew Hore to their starting line-up, while fly-half Dan Carter will return after serving a one-match ban.
